Polyether ether ketone (PEEK) refers to a linear polymer composed of aryl, ketone, and ether bonds in the main chain of macromolecules. It is currently a widely produced variety of polyether ether ketone, also known as polyetherether ketone or PEEK. Its molecular structure formula is
Molecular structure of polyetheretherketone
Polyether ether ketone has the heat resistance, chemical stability, and molding processability of thermosetting plastics and thermoplastic plastics. Polyether ether ketone also has excellent heat resistance. Its thermal deformation temperature is 160 ℃, and when reinforced with 20% to 30% glass fiber, the thermal deformation temperature can be increased to 280-300 ℃. Polyether ether ketone has good thermal stability at 420 ℃ in air. At 2 hours, the weight loss is only 2%, and at 500 ℃ it is 2.5%. Significant thermal weight loss only occurs at 500 ℃. The long-term use temperature of polyetheretherketone is about 200 ℃, at which it can still maintain high tensile strength and bending modulus. It is also a very strong material with excellent long-term creep resistance and fatigue resistance.
The electrical insulation performance of polyetheretherketone is very excellent, with a volume resistivity of about 10-10 Ω· cm. It still has a small dielectric constant and dielectric loss in the high-frequency range. For example, at 10Hz, its dielectric constant in the room is only 3.2, and the dielectric loss is only 0.02.
The chemical stability of polyetheretherketone is also very good. Except for concentrated sulfuric acid, it is very stable to almost any chemical reagent and can maintain good chemical stability even at high temperatures. In addition, it also has excellent heat resistance and steam resistance. It can be used for a long time in steam at 200-250 ℃.
Polyether ether ketone has excellent flame retardancy and is difficult to burn in typical environments. Even when burned, its smoke emission and harmful gas release are very low, even lower than low smoke polymers such as polytetrafluoroethylene. In addition It also has excellent radiation resistance. Its resistance to alpha rays, beta rays, and gamma rays is currently the highest among polymer materials. The wire products coated with it can withstand 1.1 × 10Gy of gamma rays.
